What we carry
Packaged explosives at every scale a van can legally move. Detonators and shotfiring accessories, detonating cord and boosters, cartridged explosives, pyrotechnic articles including fireworks and signal devices, and pyrotechnic components for the automotive and defence industries, from the lightest 1.4S articles upwards. Compatibility group and segregation rules are applied on every load. If your consignment falls outside that envelope, tell us what it is and we will assess it before we accept the job. We would rather turn work away than carry it wrong.
Why Class 1 is different
Explosives are specialist work, but not every load needs the same setup, and we run all of it. The lightest articles can travel in any of our vans with the correct paperwork. Small consignments under ADR's load thresholds move the same way, under the small load rules. Above the thresholds the vehicle itself must be approved for explosives, which is where our EX/II approved vehicle comes in. Some explosives, detonators especially, carry full security planning requirements at any quantity, even a single box. Our written Transport Security Plan covers it.
What happens when you call
We check the consignment details against your Dangerous Goods Note before collection, and confirm whether the load travels under the small load rules or needs the EX/II approved vehicle. For civil explosives we confirm the receiver's Recipient Competent Authority Document is in place and a copy travels with the load. Our driver verifies the packaging, labelling and transport documentation on arrival, and the load travels secured, supervised, tracked, and driven straight to the delivery point. You get a signed delivery note as proof of delivery.
The compliance behind it
EX/II approved vehicle for the carriage of explosives. All drivers hold ADR driver training certificates including the stand-alone Class 1 course, plus the Ofqual-regulated Level 1 Award in Security of Dangerous Goods, and counter-terrorism training through both FORS and ACT Awareness. A written Transport Security Plan is in force, reviewed by our Dangerous Goods Safety Adviser under ADR Chapter 1.10 and the Carriage of Dangerous Goods Regulations 2009, including the Regulation 7 duties for explosives. DfT Inspected: Fully Compliant. Every compliance claim on this page is backed by certificates on file, available on request.
