What counts as HCDG
High Consequence Dangerous Goods are the consignments regulators treat as the highest security risk, goods with the potential for serious consequences if they fell into the wrong hands. In packages, that includes most explosives, detonators among them, at any quantity, toxic gases in cylinders, the most toxic packing group I substances, desensitized explosives, Category A infectious substances, and radioactive sources above the security thresholds. If you are not sure whether your consignment counts, tell us what it is and we will confirm before you commit to anything.
Why HCDG is different
HCDG triggers the full security regime of ADR Chapter 1.10. That means a written security plan covering responsibilities, route and stop assessment, incident procedures and information security, a security-trained and vetted crew, and theft protection and tracking on the vehicle. In Great Britain the same duties run through the Carriage of Dangerous Goods Regulations 2009, including the Regulation 7 duties for explosives. We run all of it as standard.
What happens when you call
We confirm the goods and quantities against your Dangerous Goods Note and establish whether Chapter 1.10 applies. The movement is planned under our security plan, routes and stops assessed, the load supervised throughout, and the job driven direct, no unnecessary stops. Our driver verifies the packaging, labelling and transport documentation on arrival, and the load travels secured and GPS tracked to the delivery point. You get a signed delivery note, and consignment details stay on a need-to-know basis throughout.
The compliance behind it
A written Transport Security Plan is in force, reviewed by our Dangerous Goods Safety Adviser under ADR Chapter 1.10 and the Carriage of Dangerous Goods Regulations 2009. All drivers work under the plan and hold the Ofqual-regulated Level 1 Award in Security of Dangerous Goods, FORS security and counter-terrorism training, and ACT Awareness. All vehicles live GPS tracked, collection to delivery. EX/II approved vehicle for explosives, and an appointed Radiation Protection Adviser with HSE registration for radioactive material. DfT Inspected: Fully Compliant. Every compliance claim on this page is backed by certificates on file, available on request.
Who we work with
Explosives manufacturers and distributors, gas producers moving cylinders of toxic gas, chemical manufacturers with packing group I products, laboratories and health providers with Category A material, and isotope suppliers.
