Dangerous Goods Courier Lancashire
ADR Direct is a specialist dangerous goods courier covering all nine ADR classes, same day, nationwide. We are based on the M62 corridor at Milnrow, Rochdale. The M6 runs the length of Lancashire, with the M65 east for Blackburn, Burnley and Colne, the M55 west for Preston and the Fylde coast, and the M61 south towards Chorley. No depots, no transfers, no handovers.
Where we collect across Lancashire
Lancashire is home to one of the largest aerospace clusters in the UK, with that supply chain running through Warton, Samlesbury, Burnley and Barnoldswick. East Lancashire off the M65 is dense engineering ground. Preston and Leyland sit on the M6, and the chemical and polymer plants are on the Fylde coast. We collect across all of it.
All nine classes
We carry packaged dangerous goods across all nine ADR classes, a single box or a full van load up to 1,050 kg, on a dedicated vehicle either way. Across Lancashire that means solvents, resins and polymer feedstocks, corrosives, compressed gases, and lithium batteries and cells. All drivers hold ADR driver training certificates covering all nine classes, including the specialisation training courses for Class 1 explosives and Class 7 radioactive. Springfields and Heysham
Springfields, near Preston, is a licensed nuclear site that has been making nuclear fuel since the mid-1940s, and it is a COMAH registered site under the Control of Major Accident Hazards Regulations 2015. Up the coast at Heysham is the only site in the UK with two operating nuclear power stations. Class 7 radioactive movements are ordinary work for us rather than an exception, carried under ADR Chapter 1.7 with the paperwork checked before the vehicle moves.
Hillhouse and the Fylde coast
Hillhouse at Thornton-Cleveleys sits on the Wyre estuary on the old ICI works. It runs to 138 hectares with over 40 companies on it, and the government's Enterprise Zone list names its sector as chemicals. The A585 takes you off the site onto the motorway network at Junction 3 of the M55. Chemical and polymer plants produce the steady ADR work, drums and IBCs of solvent, corrosives and resins going out, and waste coming back the other way.
The compliance behind it
A Dangerous Goods Safety Adviser is appointed under ADR Chapter 1.8.3, and a Radiation Protection Adviser for Class 7. We are registered with the HSE under the Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017. Class 1 movements run under a written Transport Security Plan, on an EX/II approved vehicle. FORS Champion accredited and an RHA member. All vehicles live GPS tracked, collection to delivery.
